Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book in for pilates classes?

Prior to attending your first class, you need to complete an assessment with one of our physiotherapists. To book your appointment, please give us a call on 0431 221 381. During this call, we can book you into classes. Once you have completed your assessment, you are also able to book classes in yourself via our online booking system.

Can I pay for my pilates class on a casual basis?

No, unfortunately we do not allow you to pay for each individual class. We sell classes as a pack of 10 for $280.

When can I start Pregnancy Pilates classes?

You can start pilates anytime from your 2nd trimester (12 weeks) onwards. Our classes do fill up quickly, so you can always call a few weeks in advance to book your assessment and secure your place in a class. We strongly recommend starting prior to 30 weeks though to ensure you are getting optimal benefits from our classes.

How long after I have my baby can I start Mums and Bubs Pilates?

If you have a vaginal delivery, you can start classes when you feel ready. For those of you that have a c-section, you will need to have your 6 week check up with your doctor or midwife prior to starting classes again.

Can I claim my classes through my health fund?

Absolutely! As our pilates classes are run by qualified physiotherapists, they can be claimed through your health fund (obviously this will depend on whether you have extras, and your level of cover).

If I did a pilates assessment prior to starting pregnancy pilates, do I have to do another one prior to starting mums and bubs or postnatal classes?

Yes you do. This assessment will give us the chance to chat to you about your birth, your recovery and your health and fitness goals. It will also give us the opportunity to work out any modifications you may require during the classes to ensure they are safe yet effective for you and your recovery!

How many people are in a class?

For pregnancy and postnatal pilates, we have a maximum of 10 participants. For mums and bubs, classes are limited to 8 women plus their babies.

What should I bring to class?

Please bring a bottle of water to class. If you are attending mums and bubs pilates, you should also bring anything you need for your little one. We have spare mats for you to use to lie them on, but you may like to bring an additional towel or wrap to pop on the mat, plus toys, nappies and wipes. We have high chairs and bouncers available for use during classes as well, however you may like to bring your own.

How do I cancel a class?

You will be sent an email reminder the day before each class you are booked in to. If you are unable to make a class, you can simply reply to one of the emails, or give us a call. As long as you give us 4 hours notice, you won’t be charged for cancelling your class. Less than 4 hours notice will result in being charged the full amount ($28) - that is, one class will be taken off your pass.

What qualifications do the instructors have?

All of our pilates instructors have a Physiotherapy degree, and have also completed qualifications in pilates. Plus, we have lots of real life experience – we are all mums so we know first hand what it’s like to be pregnant and a new mum!

What should I expect in a physiotherapy appointment?

During your initial consultation, your physiotherapist will take a thorough history, which includes asking you a few questions about your pain or issue. This helps us get a better understanding of how best to help you. Our physiotherapy sessions always include hands on treatment, as well as strategies or exercises to help you manage your pain at home.

In order to provide the best service we can, we may require you to remove part of your clothing so we can access the affected area. Our treatment rooms are private, and we will always offer towels or other appropriate strategies to ensure you remain covered. Please take this into consideration when dressing for physiotherapy appointments – a top and shorts is often easier than a dress for example.
